Mistakes To Avoid When Link Building

Nowadays, we have millions of sites that cover a variety of different subjects. Most people who create these sites have no clue how to get visitors to it. Your site must be promoted in order for people to know it exists.

One of the most powerful ways of promoting your website is through SEO back linking; the goal is to locate sites that have a high PageRank and relevant content and then getting a link of yours on that site.

Many webmasters have been successful at link building but more have failed. So, what sets apart the successful websites from the ones that try but get no results? The answer lies in the methods they use to build links. If you are going to use link building techniques that search engines don’t like, then you obviously won’t generate much traffic from them, and nor will you get any direct visitors.

Powerful backlinking is easier than most people believe it to be, your only job is to include your URL to relevant and reputable site at a slow and steady speed and keep doing it. Trying to speed up the process will only bring more harm than good. The following mistakes can lead you down the wrong path so stay away from the at all costs.

Aside from creating one way backlinks to your site, one efficient way to build links quickly is to join a link exchange. But the downside to these exchanges is that many shady webmasters are just waiting to cheat you. One common scam, for example, is getting you to pay for a backlink that quickly disappears or becomes “no follow,” which makes it useless to you. That’s why it’s important to keep an eye out and check if your link is still live or if the link has “nofollow” tag. With so many people in the backlink business, you have to be careful and know who you’re dealing with.

Buying links isn’t as effective as it used to be. High Pagerank backlinks are pure gold, in every sense of the word. These links are sold for hundreds or even thousands of dollars a year and many networks are available online that make it easy for buying/selling links on high pagerank sites. Over time, these links have turned out to be expensive in nature. It is easy to conclude that these types of backlinks can work wonders for your site when you see it climbing in the search engines in a matter of hours. Too many people have started to use this technique and now Google is aware of it; now sites that are using this for rankings are losing them or not sustaining any long-term rankings to start with. The only solution is to build natural links over the long-term.

Also, PageRank (PR) is for individual pages and not an entire site. You might have a certain page that is has a PR 5 status but your homepage may be a PR 1 because you don’t really promote it. Knowing the PR of any page will payoff for you and your site down the later on.

You can outrank and keep top ranking if you treat link building seriously. With a little practice, you will build an unshakeable site with your link building efforts.
